Starting from November 1, 2013 the Graduate School of Public Policy call applications for enrollment to the Master in Public Policy program for the years 2014-2016.

The NU GSPP MPP degree program has as its objective to provide students with the administrative and analytical competence, as well as leadership skills and theoretical background, to drive change at the local and national levels within Kazakhstan as well as internationally.

Eligibility:

- Bachelor’s (full-time) and/or Master’s degree diploma (or equivalent);

- At least two years of work experience in public institutions, national companies, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, foreign companies and/or business entities that involve extensive interaction with the public sector.

Based on GSPP’s Admissions Committee discretion, applicants with work experience less than 2 years may also be considered if the applicant can demonstrate high academic performance (GPA 4.5 out of 5, or 3.5 out of 4).

Scholarship availability:

Around 20 scholarships will be provided from the Government for the citizens of Kazakhstan.

August, 2014


How to apply:

Every applicant to the MPP program is required to submit an application package online before February, 28.

The application package includes the following:

1) Three essays. Essay questions will be available in the application form;

2) Resume/CV;

3) Notarized copy (-ies) of Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree diploma (or equivalent) with transcript(s);

Applicants who obtained Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree diploma (or its equivalent) from foreign educational institutions must request their official transcript(s) to be sent to GSPP directly.

4) Valid English language proficiency test reports (academic IELTS or TOEFL). Exception: the candidates who obtained university level degree in educational institutions with English as the language of instruction located in the countries where English is an official language.

Score requirements:

TOEFL paper-based test score – 580;

TOEFL internet-based test score – 92 (with a minimum 21 in each);

IELTS test score – 6.5 (with no score below 6.0 in any element).

5) Notarized copy of the applicant’s identity card or passport;

6) Notarized copy of the document that proves professional experience of the applicant (if applicable);

7) Two letters of recommendation from individuals who are able to comment on the abilities of the applicant in a professional setting and are familiar with his/her achievements and future aspirations. One of the two recommendations should be written by current or previous employer (if applicable). The second referee may be chosen at the applicant’s discretion;

8) Valid GRE or GMAT Test Report (optional).
