In December 2012, the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business, through cooperation with Duke University"s Fuqua School of Business, is starting its Executive MBA (EMBA) program. The Daytime MBA program will be opened for students in 2014. Today, the autonomous educational organization ''Nazarbayev University'' (NU) and its strategic partner Duke University"s Fuqua School of Business have signed a long-term partnership agreement. The agreement was signed by the President of NU, Shigeo Katsu, the Chairman of the Executive Council of NU, Aslan Sarinzhipov, and the Dean of Duke University"s Fuqua School of Business, Professor William Boulding.
At present, the Graduate School of Business has started the admissions process of students to its EMBA program. With minimal interruption to life and work, students will be able to obtain a master"s degree, improve their career trajectories, and enhance their professional network regionally and internationally. The EMBA students will be taught at NU as well as travel to a residency abroad to Durham, NC, USA. Through their strategic collaboration with Duke University"s Fuqua School of Business, NU Grad School of Business will have some of the No.1 ranked faculty in the world for intellectual capital (2010 Bloomberg Businessweek).
The agreement describes the issues of consulting and educational services for academic development, human capital, faculty building and infrastructure of the Graduate School of Business. The initial focus of the partnership will be to develop high caliber MBA programs that will prepare the next generation of business leaders to succeed, while building faculty strength and increasing the research capabilities of the school.
The faculty members of the NU EMBA program are professors from Fuqua; who may include editors of some famous academic journals and periodicals, heads of large international business companies and leading experts. In the next few years, Nazarbayev University is planning to bring their own professors, also highly qualified professionals internationally, to the NU Graduate School of Business.
In addition, NU Graduate School of Business, through cooperation with Duke Corporate Education, which is a not-for-profit support corporation for Duke University, has been successfully pursuing executive education, ''SME entrepreneurship program'' within ''Business Road Map - 2020'', for two years already. There are 420 entrepreneurs who have graduated from this program.
