You can set either private or shared credentials for accessing
password-protected feeds. Shared credentials enable all the users
of IBM Syndicated Feed Portlet to view the feed without having to
enter any credentials. Private credentials enable an individual user
to view content from password protected feeds by configuring user
ID and password.
You can set the private or shared credentials per feed. You
can specify the credentials either when adding the feed to the IBM
Syndicated Feed Portlet or when viewing the settings for a feed. To
specify or change the credentials of existing feed subscriptions from
the feed settings, perform the following steps:
- From the portlet menu, select Personalize, Edit
Shared Settings, or Configure.
The General tab is selected, by default. Alternatively,
click the My Subscriptions link (if available
in the view mode) to display the subscription list.
- On the Subscriptions page, roll
over your mouse on the name of the feed and click the Settings link
that is displayed next to the feed. A short description of the feed,
feed URL, and web address of the feed page are displayed. Additionally,
text fields to specify user ID and password along with option buttons
to specify whether the credentials entered in the text fields are
private or shared, are displayed.
- Click OK to save the
credentials or Hide if you no longer want the
feed settings to be displayed on the screen.
